Mary Baker Eddy (~ Bow, NH - July 6, 1821 - December 3, 1910, ~ Chestnut Hill, Newton, MA)
was an American religious leader who founded The First Church of Christ Scientist in
New England in 1879.
Mrs. Eddy had a severe fall in 1866. She turned to a Gospel account of healing and
experienced a moment of spiritual illumination. This experience brought about, not only immediate recovery but also a new direction to her life. She founded the metaphysical Christian Science movement and authored Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
